The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC,
in Katsina State on Friday inaugurated mobile courts to try traffic
offenders as part of its efforts to enforce traffic regulations.
The FRSC Sector Commander, Habu Dauda, said in Katsina that reckless
driving, using mobile phones while driving, and driving on wrong lanes
prompted the measure.
Mr. Dauda said the corps
had deployed road marshals to strategic places in Katsina metropolis
to arrest and prosecute traffic offenders instantly.
He added that the FRSC would
continue to enlighten the public on the dangers of violating traffic
rules and regulations through the media and public lectures.
“The setting up of the courts is
not intended to witch-hunt motorists, but to protect their lives and
that of other road users in the state.”
He solicited for the support of stakeholders toward reducing road accidents in the state.
